In an enchanted castle lives a prince, beautiful and young. He's arrogant and doesn't care about his people. He lives for extravagant parties and material possesions. On a cold winter night, an old woman knocks at his door, asking for shelter from the storm in exchange for a rose. Repulsed by the woman, he rejects her and closes the door of his home, letting her suffer in the cold of the night. As he turns his back on her, she transformes into a magnificent fairy, the spirit of life and nature of his kingdom. She's beautiful and looks like a goddes. Disgusted by the prince's selfishness, the fairy decides to curse him, his subjects and his kingdom to live possesed by the spitir of the rose he so easily rejected. As he begs for forgiveness, the fairy transforms him into a hideous beast until he can learn to care for someone else than himself. Haunted by the rose, the former prince isolated himself in the dark of his castle, until one day, a young and beautiful lady enters his castle...
