Kolkata City Branding

This project is based on the city branding of Kolkata, India. It’s main objective is to rebrand the city and help it attract tourism. Some of the challenges faced in this project was to be able to bring city highlights through the design, which is accomplished by using architecture, art, and sight seeing. The primary logo uses the architecture of the iconic St.Paul’s Cathedral in the city. The patterning elements used for the city branding are influenced by the handcrafted blocks of wood that are used for clothing patterns, stationery branding and more. The flower patterns represent the flowers that are used during festivals and the paisley swirls represent designs done with 'rangoli' (powder colour) at the entrance of most houses.
