File Clerk - Part Time
Summary: The file clerk is responsible for maintaining an efficient and accessible filing system; both paper files and computer media.
Key Job Elements:
1. Accurately file records or data per the department’s established procedures. Media could be paper, microfilm, microfiche, or computer.
2. Find and retrieve information from files in response to requests from authorized users. Track materials removed from files and document file requests.
3. Scan or read incoming materials in order to determine how and where they should be classified or filed.
4. Assist with file auditing and purging.
5. May perform general office duties such as typing, operating office machines, and sorting mail.
6. Other duties as assigned.
Reports To: Could report to a Supervisor, Manager, Director, etc. depending on location
Interacts With: Staff, faculty, students, depending on location.
Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
a) High school diploma required. Business school or College degree preferred.
b) Minimum one year experience in an office environment.
a) Superior organizational skills.
b) Strong basic computer software (MS Office) skills.
a) Ability to interact effectively as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
b) Ability to listen to customers (e.g. students, staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
