Student Activity Leader

We are currently seeking a Student Activity Leader to join our growing team.

Position Summary:

The Student Activity Leader is a positive role model who delivers high quality student activities and services to our students in a fun and safe environment both on campus and in LaSalle College Vancouver's School - Sponsored Housing.  Patience, adaptability and creativity are key to being a successful Student Activity Leader.  This is an incredible opportunity for anyone who loves working with college students, has a passion for education and learning and is ready for a leadership role in planning, and delivering programs for students.

Major Responsibilities on Campus (10 -15 hours per week):

  • Planning, developing and implementing educational, social and recreational activities for students.
  • Developing quarterly program calendars for campus.
  • Assisting with recruitment, training and leading student volunteers.
  • Performing other student engagement tasks such as maintaining, organizing and updating office files and records, as necessary.
  • Assisting with orientation, graduation, and portfolio shows.
  • Assisting students with special needs or disabilities and ensuring their inclusion in educational, social and recreational activities for students.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and welcoming school environment.

Major Responsibilities in Student Housing (10 - 15 hours per week):

  • Training and supervising Residence Advisors (RA's);
  • Developing quarterly program calendars for Housing;
  • Facilitating tours of the School-Sponsored Housing to prospective students and their support networks.
  • Answering questions about LaSalle College Vancouver School-Sponsored Housing.
  • Demonstrating the emotional maturity necessary to cope with day-to-day decisions and student issues and/or concerns related to maintaining healthy living conditions within School-Sponsored Housing.
  • Assisting with orientations, quarter breaks, new student move-in days, move out days, conflict mediation sessions, performing administrative tasks, communicating with residents, confronting disciplinary situations, and other tasks/school events, as requested.
  • Organizing and conducting new student Housing orientation with RA's.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks related to School-Sponsored Housing.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Energetic and engaging personality.
  • Punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with different departments on campus as well as external community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
  • Program planning, a second language and experience working with culturally diverse people would be considered definite assets.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with high school or college students.
  • Good Microsoft Office Skills with knowledge of graphic design software programs considered a plus.
  • Must possess a flexible schedule that allows you to work 25 hours per week plus evenings and weekends, as required.
