MARÉ Cosmetics is a Montreal based cosmetics company aiming to shed some light on the extraordinary resources Morocco has to offer the world; North American in particular. At the heart of MARÉ Cosmetics is the belief that every individual possesses unique beauty. We have therefore selected Argan and Prickly Pear Seed oils; two precious oils recognized for their anti-aging and moisturizing properties. Co-Founders

Staying true to our convictions, our products come directly from Morocco and our oils are 100% natural, 100% pure, and 100% organic. Our oils all possess the ECOCERT seal of approval and comply with the standards of production, preparation and distribution of organic foods and products. They do not contain parabens, mineral oils, silicones, alcohol, colorant, or animal ingredients, nor are they tested on animals. MARÉ Cosmetics is also involved in the emancipation of women in southwestern Morocco, as well as the improvement of their living conditions.

Prickly pear seed oil

The prickly pear can be found throughout some Mediterranean areas. Thus, from the depths of the Moroccan desert, a genus of cactus produces a fruit known as the prickly pear; from whose seeds we are able to extract our most valuable oil. This oil is one of the most prestigious in the world, due in part to its very long, complex, and delicate extraction process. Prickly pear seed oil is composed of 88% fatty acids, which is more than any other product currently available on the market. It mainly contains Omega 6 and vitamin E; two essentials for maintaining the skin’s well-being. It is similarly rich in tocopherols, which are antioxidants that diminish the look and signs of skin aging. It also successfully reduces the appearance of red patches, unusual pigmentation, scars, wrinkles, and stretch marks. Considered a highly powerful moisturizer, it is also very used for hair, nails and eyelashes.

Argan oil

Centuries ago, Berber women discovered the various properties of argan oil and have since used it for its numerous cosmetic and health benefits. Argan trees, from whose nuts the oil is extracted, only grow in a very specific area of Morocco. Argan tree farming is so rare and treasured that part of the plantation has been awarded “biosphere reserve” status and is protected by UNESCO. Argan oil is made up of 80% fatty acids, including Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9; perfect for maintaining vital skin hydration. It also contains vitamin E which helps fight the signs of skin aging. An absolute elixir, argan oil is very used for skin, hair and nails.

Social responsibility

At MARÉ Cosmetics we strongly believe in natural beauty and in the emancipation of women. In addition to providing our clients with the opportunity to benefit from these natural elixirs, we are committed to helping with women’s emancipation efforts in southwestern Morocco. Since 2002, the Moroccan government has been creating cooperatives specifically dedicated to women who produce cosmetic and nutritional oil products. This initiative, which aims to empower Moroccan women by improving their living conditions, could not be more compatible with MARÉ Cosmetics’ core values. It provides women, particularly those living in rural Morocco, with the opportunity to earn a stable salary, work in better and safer conditions, and improve their level of literacy. For these reasons, MARÉ Cosmetics has chosen to work along-side these cooperatives, as we truly believe in the emancipation and empowerment of women.
