This body of work is a collection of everyday, condescending, sexist, mundane words that men have said to me throughout my lifetime. The captions command attention and represent the way these words are designed to make the viewer feel, objectified, insignificant, dehumanized and defined. These works draws on ideas of a woman’s existence. “To be born a woman is to be born within an allotted and confined space into the keeping of men.” All women throughout their lifetime experience acts of sexism, policing, unrealistic expectations as well as violence and violations. Each image represents a personal experience that has been said or enacted upon me.
