~Costume Design~ Contemporary Sorceress - Fantasy Project

Based on photo-montages of houses from artist Mathias Jung, we were to develop a sorceress character to live in a chosen house. Selecting a specific epoch, type of sorceress and her magic, we had to design a relatively modern look for our characters with the added fashion statement of a large headpiece.

Phaedra

PHAEDRA is a Royal Goddess heir from a parallel universe. Guardian of Earth, her mission is to aid in long term evolution of Earth and humanity, to ensure survival of Earth and protect the elements. The floating stain glass is the portal door, called the occularium. The occularium is attached to Phaedra’s house by a silver thread of Earth’s energy; as these threads intertwine all life on Earth. Supporting the entire inter-webbed structure of the unified universes. Phaedra learned about the Earth’s energy force and how to tap into the power in 1317 B.C., in Ancient Egypt. Being out of this world, Phaedra’s slightly altered molecular composition allows her to perform magic on Earth in great magnitudes, for instance, she can astral project and be in up to three places at once. Phaedra’s intense fire within allows her to connect to Earth’s energy whole heartedly, paired with her in temporal ability, often leaves her susceptible to Earth's negative energy. Making her unpredictable and emotionally volatile. She is often sad as she is separated from her beloved pet dragon. He cannot come to Earth. Our ozone layer and poor environmental conditions are vastly inferior compared Phaedra's home planet and he would die. Phaedra seeks solace in her house, secured away from Earth’s negative energies and high pollution, allowing her to recharge. It is rumoured that Phaedra is responsible for the revival of the Egyptian influence in the 1920’s fashion. The draped, pleated and next to nothing, free flowing dresses, natural fibres for her sensitive alien skin, delicately strung metal accessories and a flair for the dramatic, are Phaedra's signature.

Phaedra

A draped chiffon skirt and a draped bodice, consisting of a lose knit, triangular beaded appliqué and criss-cross, chain strung, back, hide a yoga inspired, gold, stretch, biking. The triangular bikini top with chain straps has a matching boy-short bottom. Leg, body jewellery hooks onto the skirt, as the back of the bodice attaches to the bracelet, indicating Phaedra's slavery to Earth's energies, fuelling the fire within her.
