Before venturing off into the world of Costume Design, we must learn the basics of garment construction through various women's wear garments.
This was a composition project where we made a bustier to fit ourselves. My double zipper design was inspired by a pre-existing design. I used a combination of microfiber fabric and satin, also I created a pop of color with contrasting green satin in the lining of the front panels.
First semester Graphic Process 2013 project. Our class visted the 'Splendore a Venezia' Exhibition and were to design a collection based on a Venetian theme, utilizing Adobe Illustrator, and hand drawing techniques.
~Alice in Wonderland Themed ~ This composition project started as a two dimensional plan on paper and developed into a three dimensional finished blouse. It is made of a blue woven cotton/poly blend suiting fabric and a white novelty woven cotton/poly blend.
Second Semester Concepts 2014 Project. Our class was instructed to make a collection based on trend books and utilizing Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
First Semester Sewing Class 2013 Kimono Project. Using a printed, woven, light weight, cotton, I learned how to cut patterns while considering matching the lines of the motif at seam intersections and on the pocket, with a white polyester, satin for contrast and the belt.
I painted my nails to resemble butterflies.
~Alice in Wonderland Themed ~ At the end of the semester, I had two final projects due at the same time. I tied a theme of Alice in Wonderland into the two projects.
This was a sewing class project where we were unable to change the pattern and in order to add a little of my own touch, I used a novelty woven linen print for the facing and a satin for the lining.
~Alice in Wonderland Themed ~ This draping project required we use two elements we explored during class, I chose the twist and the peplum. The bodice with the checkered motif is a combination of a red woven cotton/poly blend suiting fabric and a 4 way stretch knit checkered print. The bodice with the paisley motif is a combination of the red woven cotton/poly blend suiting fabric and a woven cotton print.
This was a sewing class project where we were unable to change the pattern and in order to add a little of my own flavor, I used piping between panels, added buttons and chain links.
