If you are a student at The Art Institute of Vancouver or LaSalle College Vancouver and are wondering what this acquisition will have on your education, here are a few answers the questions you may be asking yourself.

• 1. Why is LCI Education network acquiring The Art Institute of Vancouver?

  Acquiring leading private, post-secondary educational institutions is an important part of LCI’s strategy to enrich the learning environment and job opportunities for students, strengthen our organization financially and operationally, and enhance our reputation as a leading global network of private educational institutions.

  The Art Institute of Vancouver is a leading provider of creative education in the post secondary market in Vancouver so it makes sense that we join forces to become the premier private post-secondary institute for the creative sector in all of BC!

• 2. As a student, how does this benefit me?

  The Art Institute of Vancouver is joining a strong, Canadian owned global network of leading private post-secondary institutions, providing students with enhanced opportunities for learning and skill development, working with leaders in the Vancouver design industry, and pursuing an international education. Students at The Art Institute of Vancouver and LaSalle College Vancouver will have enhanced access at both campuses, such as labs and libraries, as well as:

  • Mobility opportunities network campuses such as Montreal, Barcelona and Melbourne.
  • Access to an exclusive international Portfolio platform dedicated to promoting student creativity world-wide including a select job offer platform.

• 3. As a student, what immediate changes should I expect?

  The Art Institute of Vancouver will operate as a sister institute to LaSalle College Vancouver as part of the LCI Education network. Class structures, tuition fees, and school names will remain the same. Students at The Art Institute of Vancouver and LaSalle College Vancouver will benefit by having enhanced access to facilities at both campuses, such as libraries and labs.

• 4. How does this impact my diploma credentials? Which institution will appear on my diploma?

  We recognize the value of The Art Institute of Vancouver’s reputation for alumni, students, staff and the industry. Therefore, students currently enrolled at The Art Institute of Vancouver will receive a credential from The Art Institute of Vancouver. Students enrolled at LaSalle College Vancouver will receive a credential from LaSalle College Vancouver.

• 5. Will there be any changes to programs offered?

  All enrolled students will have no change to their course offering for the next term.

• 6. Can I enroll for classes at both The Art Institute of Vancouver and LaSalle College Vancouver for the next term?

  No. Students can pursue courses only at their originally enrolled institution. AiV and LCV will initially operate separately. Mobility opportunities are being developed.

• 7. Will course offerings change for the next term?

  All enrolled students will have no change to their course offering for the next term.

• 8. Are there any immediate changes to be communicated to potential students regarding The Art Institute of Vancouver, curricula, or costs?

  The Art Institute of Vancouver will operate as a sister institute to LaSalle College Vancouver as part of the LCI Education network. Class structures, tuition fees, and school names will remain the same for the immediate future. Committees will be formed consisting of faculty and staff from both institutions to ensure best practices as part of ongoing activities.

• 9. Will my tuition fees change now or for the next term?

  No. All student contracts remain valid.

• 10. Will The Art Institute of Vancouver still be bound by US regulations?

  No. That's another advantage of being owned by a Canadian entity.

• 11. Will The Art Institute of Vancouver continue to offer degrees?

  Yes! LCI confirms that that the existing corporate entity, Ai-Vancouver (BC corporation number BC0704175), will remain in place and continue to provide and grant the degrees under ministerial consents.

• 12. I’m an international student at The Art Institute of Vancouver, will I need a new student study permit?

  No, your study permit will remain valid.

• 13. Will I need to go to The Art Institute of Vancouver or LaSalle College Vancouver campus for certain courses going forward?

  All students currently enrolled at either campus will receive their course delivery at the original enrolled campus location.

• 14. Will The Art Institute of Vancouver operate under a new name?

  The Art Institute of Vancouver will operate as a sister institute to LaSalle College Vancouver as part of the LCI Education network, with no name change.
