LaSalle College is proud to partner with the McCord Stewart Museum for the exhibition "Costume Balls – Dressing History, 1870-1927"

LaSalle College is partnering with the McCord Stewart Museum to present a captivating exhibition that immerses visitors in the extravagant world of 19th-century costume balls and skating carnivals. Through an impressive collection of period costumes and rare photographs, "Costume Balls – Dressing History, 1870-1927" explores the history of these lavish events, where each participant transformed into a character inspired by historical or fantastical figures, creating a universe where imagination knew no bounds.

Why partnering with this exhibition?

With our program in Fashion Design (Profile in Costume for Cinema and Television), it was a natural fit for us to partner with this exhibition, showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship behind costume creation and the meticulous research needed to capture both characters and historical periods. It offers our students a unique source of inspiration, allowing them to deepen their understanding of the history and techniques behind these captivating period costumes.

"Costume Balls – Dressing History, 1870-1927" is on view at the McCord Stewart Museum until August 17, 2025. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to step into an era when the art of costume was at the heart of social entertainment, and history was reimagined for an evening!
