Inauguration of the Exhibition Entre Oro y Solsticios

Museo de Trajes, Calle 10 # 6-26, Bogotá

Entre Oro y Solsticio, a unique experience rooted in research, is now open to the public.

Designed to inspire and rooted in research, this exhibition highlights the aesthetic richness of Colombian pre-Hispanic cultures and promotes reflection on the preservation and appreciation of our cultural heritage in today’s context. Directed by professor Angie Mora, the initiative explores the connection between fashion, ancestral pottery, and photography, blending tradition with innovation.

ADCE Workshops & Graphic Design Exhibition

As official collaborators of the ADCE - Art Directors Club of Europe Festival 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting two inspiring events on our campus last week:

  • Sense, Sensibility, and Fonts: a masterclass by Zetafonts that offered a multisensory experience combining sounds, colors, and shapes with typographic forms. The session explored how typography influences communication, even at an unconscious level.
  • Grow Mycelium with Your Own Energy: a workshop by Fab Lab Barcelona (originally created by Domingo Club) in which participants learned how to grow mycelium by fermenting tempeh in a specially-designed necklace.

The Fight for Kindness by TypeCampus

As part of the #ADCEfestival 2024, we are hosting the global exhibition The Fight for Kindness,sponsored by Zetafonts. Held in celebration of World Kindness Day, this global campaign highlights positivity, empathy, altruism, and love. Featuring the work of talented artists, designers, and illustrators, the exhibition showcases impactful typographic messages from around the world.

Meet & Greet: First-year International Learners

Starting a new journey in a foreign city and culture is both exciting and challenging for international students. To ease the transition, the Student Services team recently organized a meet & greet for our first-year international learners, offering an opportunity to meet schoolmates embarking on a similar journey in Barcelona, engage with the LCI Education community, and gain valuable insights from second-year international students who have walked the same path.

The meeting featured a warm and welcoming atmosphere with activities designed to inspire and connect. International learners shared stories, asked questions, and enjoying a relaxed breakfast together, building friendships and networks that last well beyond the classroom.

Masterclass with Victor Claramunt

Victor Claramunt, the best fashion film director in the world, and the innovative videographers Ines Alomar and Xavier Gómez, emerging references on the Barcelona scene, networked with learners and divulged some of the secrets of #FashionFilm in an exclusive masterclass moderated by our Head of Fashion, Estel Vilaseca.

As part of the 8th edition of the LCI Barcelona Fashion Film Festival, the masterclass covered:

  • How to tell visual stories that excite.
  • Key tips to merging fashion and cinema.
  • Decisive trends in the industry.
  • Creative secrets from expert professionals.

Campus tour & exclusive masterclass for students from LaSalle College Montréal

As part of the Counselor Fly-In Spain event by SRT Fairs, we had the pleasure of welcoming to our campus a group of counselors from different international schools: Cambridge School of BucharestColegio Americano de QuitoBuckingham SchoolEuropean School RheinMain (ESRM), Instituto D'Amicis, The International School Nido de Aguilas, Open Future International School, Instituto Thomas Jefferson MéxicoPaRK International SchoolSpectrum International School International School of Bergamo, and British International School of Barranquilla.

Greeted by Alessandro Manetti, PhD, Vice President Europe of LCI Education, alongside some members of the #LCIBarcelona team, the counselors enjoyed a guided tour of our new facilities led by Department Heads Estel VilasecaPedro Cardoso CoelhoDavid Carretero, and Salvatore Elefante, and professor Alan Ramírez. They explored our different creative and experimental labs and got to see our learners’ talent in action on their various and diverse innovative projects. The meeting wrapped up in the Montréal Room on the 4th floor, where our guests learned more about the LCI Barcelona project, enjoyed a catered reception, and captured the moment with a group photo at the photocall.

A big thank you to SRT Fairs, especially Alfonso PeñaKarla Rodrígues, and Nancy Bautista, and to all the counselors who joined us today to discover the European Hub of #LCIEducation!

b'Ars Festival

For the 11th edition of the b'Ars, Barcelona International Arts&Vfx Fair, LCI Barcelona set the scene for two major events: the Job Fair and Wrap Party.

At the b'Ars Job Fair, learners and professionals from the Animation and VFX sector connect with leading companies such as GRUP MEDIAPROGameloft Barcelona, and SAUVAGE.TV; enjoy a masterclass by Carlos Sánchez, VFX Supervisor in Orca Studios; and attend the round table discussion titled Crisis? What crisis?" with leading industry professionals, moderated by Carolina López, director of Animac - Mostra de Cinema d'Animació de Catalunya.

The b'Ars Wrap Party featured live music by DJ Kapi, the gastronomy of Con V de Vero, and the I Muestra de Cortos del b'Ars screening of four short films selected by a jury of experts.

As part of our collaboration with #bArsVFX2024, we held two #MadeInLCI online workshops: From script to screen, taught by Professor Alejandro López, and Animating like the Japanese! What do they do differently?, by the speaker Mar A.

Poblenou Open Night Film Screening

For the 11th edition of the Poblenou Open Night, LCI Barcelona’s forum space (Calle Àlaba, 124) hosts a special screening of animated short films created by LCI Barcelona graduates: El Duelo (2021), Sweet Side (2022), Lifetime (2023), and Peceidas (2024).

Melbourne Fashion Week

As an official partner of one of Melbourne's biggest fashion events, Melbourne Fashion Week, we have student work on display throughout the city. Our students also take part in a runway, and we host panel conversations discussing the future of the fashion industry.

AGDA Awards

Two of our Graphic and Digital Design alums, Sarah Smith and Davide Colosio, were shortlisted for the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) Award, recognised across multiple categories. Congratulations Sarah and Davide on this incredible achievement!

Ballantyne Project

14 November 2024

LaSalle College Vancouver partnered with The Ballantyne Project to host Indigenous youth from remote communities across Canada for an immersive Culinary School experience. Guided by Chefs Mandy Vial and Julian Bond, participants honed pastry and culinary skills, culminating in a sold-out six-course dinner showcasing Indigenous flavours and traditions. The event celebrated culture, community, and culinary excellence, raising funds for The Ballantyne Project with 45 tickets sold within 48 hours.

Jim Rimmer Scholarship Award by DesCan

LaSalle College Vancouver was privileged to host the Jim Rimmer Scholarship Award ceremony, presented by Descan. This prestigious scholarship recognizes students whose work makes a meaningful impact on community programs, non-profits, or social and environmental causes. During the event, renowned designer and artist Scott Clum shared his insights on innovative storytelling and his unique approach to conceptual art.

Culinary & Design Workshop

27 November 2024

LaSalle College Vancouver has launched a series of culinary and design workshops to engage with the local community. The five workshops include: Holiday Appetizer Extravaganza, Christmas Cookie Wonderland, Holiday Gifts, Glam Closets and dressing rooms, and Festive Jewelry Design. The first workshop, Holiday Appetizer Extravaganza, was successfully completed with 10 participants, and the remaining workshops are set to take place in December.

The Digital Animation School is preparing to celebrate International Day of the Digital Animator with a week full of activities: Market for entrepreneurs, talks with experts in the industry, portfolio review, video game afternoon, cosplay party, and a design contest for the school's new hoodie.
