The World is Your Classroom
2024 is going to be huge for LCI Education!
We are celebrating three milestone anniversaries: LaSalle College turns 65 in Montréal, 35 in Morocco, and 25 in Tunis!
LCI Barcelona and LaSalle College Vancouver are BOTH opening brand-new, state-of-the-art buildings.
And, in true LCI Education fashion, we are celebrating in style, unveiling LCI Education’s new branding, including the perfect new tagline: The World is Your Classroom. We had the chance to sit and discuss with Caroline Comeau, LCI Education’s Vice President and ask her to share her vision of what our slogan The World is Your Classroom means to her and the LCI Education community in 2024 and beyond.
Caroline, what inspired the choice of the tagline The World is Your Classroom for LCI Education? Can you share the creative or decision-making process that led to our new tagline?
We worked with experts to find a tagline we felt was global in nature and resonated with everyone. We wanted to showcase LCI Education’s global footprint, and the diversity of our learners––both points being key differentiators for LCI Education.
We reviewed multiple tagline options with a lens on what they would mean in various markets. The World is Your Classroom represented our higher education mandate as well as demonstrated how LCI Education represents the world in multiple ways. Also, the French version, Faites du monde votre salle de classe, resonated well with French speakers, which keeps us true to our Montréal, Québec roots.
Caroline, you recently put together a video collage of LCI learners sharing what The World is Your Classroom means to them. Did you notice an overarching theme in responses?
I noticed that learners are looking to be part of something bigger than themselves.
It was wonderful to see our learners speak from the heart on how they enjoy their experiences within our institutions, and how they feel that, not only are they getting a best-in-class, life-ready experience, but they are exposed to much more, being surrounded by individuals from all walks of life.
Were you surprised by any responses?
The World in the tagline reflects more than geography; it values the mixture of backgrounds our learners bring to the classroom, and that will never change. Currently, LCI Education welcomes learners from 100+ countries.
Some of our institutions have fewer international students, so the concept of The World didn’t resonate at first. Discussing the tagline was a great way to explain the overarching mission of LCI Education, because The World means bringing together individuals from various backgrounds, even if they were all raised in the same country. All families and experiences are different, and we strive to create an environment where everyone can come as they are. LCI Education will always make a place for a learner who wants to grow and educate themselves to have impact in the world.
This tagline was launched end of 2023 and so far, all markets are embarking on this new fresh journey with LCI Education – being proud of what we represent.
LCI Education has a 65-year history of developing and delivering proven efficient, flexible curriculum that equips learners for personal, professional, and social growth through higher education. From LaSalle College’s inception in Montréal in 1959, LCI has grown to include 12 higher education institutions across 5 continents.
Do you think The World is Your Classroom captures the history, current successes, and envisioned future of LCI Education?
It does indeed!
Starting in Montréal and expanding globally more than 35 years ago, our rich history showcases our openness to the world for our learners through growth in key markets. We are proud to have institutions and teams worldwide that represent our core values.
We have always positioned the world as accessible to anyone who strives to better themselves. It is part of our DNA.
Something that’s special about LCI is how, globally, its institutions unite around core values––Engagement, Initiative, Quality, Sharing, Mutual Understanding––while staying true to the local community they serve.
How does LCI Education maintain that balance of unified and unique among its institutions?
LCI Education’s success has been anchored in offering a diversified learning experience. Individuals benefit from their local surroundings while sharing best practices with others globally.
Our future dedication to being “glocal” includes increasing access to state-of-the-art learning facilities––especially in Barcelona and Vancouver, who inaugurate new buildings this year.
How has the new tagline been received among LCI colleagues globally?
A sense of pride and renewed excitement is what I have felt coming from our campuses. Many have the tagline everywhere on campus to showcase to our learners every day that they are part of something big.
Would you mind sharing what The World is Your Classroom means to you personally?
Being a mother, having two children of my own, 10 and 15 years old, I see first-hand at home that this generation has access to so much more information and awareness than I did. Personally, The World is Your Classroom is what I want my children to feel and experience. I want the future generations to know that the world is accessible. That the world is smaller than they think. I am proud to represent an organization that believes in cherishing all walks of life, no matter where the path is located.
LCI Education is all about fostering global connection & community. What role do you foresee technology playing in bringing The World is Your Classroom to life?
Technology brings us closer together and accelerates our ability to connect. Technology is our friend.
Currently, we are transforming the digital experience for our learners to easily showcase all that is available to them throughout LCI Education. We are embracing all possible tools and experiences to adapt to a tech-savvy generation.
